Product Information
3-Fluoropyruvic acid sodium salt monohydrate (3FPAS) is a fluorinated analog of 3-fluoropyridine-2,4,5-triol. It is an inhibitor of bacterial sialidase enzymes and has been shown to inhibit the growth of Vibrio cholerae and Clostridium perfringens in vitro. 3FPAS binds to the active site of the enzyme, preventing it from cleaving the terminal sialic acid residues from oligosaccharides. This binding inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by inhibiting protein synthesis and cell division.
