8-Fluoro-4-Hydroxy-3-Quinolinecarboxylic acid is an intermediate in the synthesis of fluoroquinolones. It inhibits bacterial growth by binding to DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, which are enzymes that maintain the integrity of bacterial DNA. 8-Fluoro-4-Hydroxy-3-Quinolinecarboxylic acid also has antibacterial activity against a broad range of Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria.
