Description:
2-(Fluoromethyl)Dehydroornithine Methyl Ester is a fluorinated analogue of ornithine. It is an inhibitor of the enzyme arginase and has been tested in tissue culture for its tumoricidal activity against tuberculosis. 2-(Fluoromethyl)Dehydroornithine Methyl Ester inhibits replication by inhibiting DNA synthesis and protein synthesis, which results in inhibition of cell proliferation. This compound also has shown to have inhibitory effects on Leishmania. 2-(Fluoromethyl)Dehydroornithine Methyl Ester is not yet approved for clinical use, but has been used in HIV-infected patients with good prognosis.
