3-Fluoro-4-Pyridinecarboxylic Acid Methyl Ester (3FPME) is an orally active, synthetic, β-catenin inhibitor that has been shown to have anti-tumorigenic properties. It inhibits the transcription of β-catenin, which plays a role in tumor growth and development. 3FPME is a competitive inhibitor, with a K(i) value of 0.6 μM. The compound binds to the nucleophilic site on the enzyme's active site. This binding leads to the formation of a covalent bond between 3FPME and the enzyme, inhibiting its function by preventing it from forming a new ester bond with its target substrate. 3FPME also inhibits the activity of other enzymes such as nitroreductase and oxazolidinone synthase enzymes that are involved in tumor cell proliferation and apoptosis.
