5-Fluoro-3-[(E)-2-Pyridin-4-Ylethenyl]-1H-Indole is a fluorinated tryptophan analogue that has been shown to be effective in the diagnosis of extracellular release of serotonin. It is also used in cancer therapy, depression, and as a serotonin reuptake inhibitor. 5-Fluoro-3-[(E)-2-Pyridin-4-Ylethenyl]-1H-Indole binds to the serotonin transporter and inhibits the reuptake of serotonin, increasing its concentration in synapses. This drug may cause nausea and vomiting, but is not associated with any other significant side effects.
