Product Information
2-Fluoro-6-methoxyphenol is a fluorescent molecule that is used to study the activity of receptors and ion channels. It binds to the receptor or ion channel by covalent bonding, where the fluorescence is quenched and then restored when the ligand dissociates. 2-Fluoro-6-methoxyphenol can also be used in molecular modeling studies, as it is a photoreceptor. The receptor activity of this molecule has been studied on ovary cells and chloride ions. 2-Fluoro-6-methoxyphenol also binds to DNA at a site close to the methylation site in mammals and may act as an antiestrogen. 2-Fluoro-6-methoxyphenol is used for electrophotographic imaging, such as laser printers and photocopiers, where it reacts with halogens to produce toxic compounds that are harmful to humans.
