Description:
5-Fluoro-1-(2-hydroxyethoxymethyl)pyrimidine-2,4-dione is a cytotoxic drug that inhibits the growth of cancer cells. It is an inhibitor of uridine phosphorylase, which is an enzyme involved in purine metabolism and the conversion of uridine to its metabolite, UMP. 5-Fluoro-1-(2-hydroxyethoxymethyl)pyrimidine-2,4-dione has been shown to inhibit intestinal dehydrogenase and intestinal alloxan activity in rats.
