Description

5-(3-Fluorophenyl)-2,4-dimethyl-1,2,4-triazole-3-thione is a drug that inhibits the synthesis of fatty acids in the intestines. It binds to the transcriptional regulator protein that controls the expression of transporter genes and blocks its ability to bind to DNA. This leads to increased levels of phospholipids in the bowel wall and subsequent relief from symptoms. 5-(3-Fluorophenyl)-2,4-dimethyl-1,2,4-triazole-3-thione has been shown to be effective for treatment of inflammatory bowel disease in animals and humans.
