Description

2-Fluoro-5-(1-hydroxy-2-methylaminoethyl)phenol oxalate is a potentiator of the neurotransmitter phenylephrine. It binds to the beta-adrenergic receptors and increases the affinity of phenylephrine for these receptors. This drug has been shown to have a potentiation effect on membranes. 2-Fluoro-5-(1-hydroxy-2-methylaminoethyl)phenol oxalate may also have effects on other types of membrane, such as those in the brain, by binding to phosphatidylinositol and 2 adrenergic receptors. This drug has not been shown to be active against bacterial cells or viruses.
