Product Information
- 5-Fluorotetraenoic acid
- (5E,8Z,11Z,14Z)-5-fluoroicosa-5,8,11,14-tetraenoic acid
5-Fluoroicosa-5,8,11,14-tetraenoic acid is a fatty acid that is biosynthesized by the liver. It is synthesized from the amino acid anthranilate in a series of steps that convert it to 5-fluoropentanoic acid and then to 5-fluoroicosa-5,8,11,14-tetraenoic acid. This compound has been shown to be resistant to complementarity and to synthesize auxotrophies in bacterial cells. It also represses alcohol residue and hydrocarbon group residues in bacterial cells. The death rate for bacteria containing this compound is higher than for bacteria without this compound. The chorismate residue inhibits the expression of this gene.
