4-Fluoro-2,6-dimethylbromobenzene is a bifunctional catalyst that can be used in the dehydrative coupling of arylboronic acids with methyl groups. It has been shown to have high catalytic activity and is selective for reactions involving chloroform or tetrahydrofuran as solvents. 4-Fluoro-2,6-dimethylbromobenzene has been shown to have strong coordination properties. The nmr spectra are dominated by the fluorine atoms attached to the ring system. The steric parameters are calculated using COSY and HMBC spectra.
