5-(4-Fluorophenyl)-1-(4-methylsulfonylphenyl)-3-(trifluoromethyl)pyrazole is a fatty acid that inhibits the production of prostaglandin E2 (PGE2). It is an inhibitor of cyclooxygenase and acts as a noncompetitive inhibitor of fatty acids. 5-(4-Fluorophenyl)-1-(4-methylsulfonylphenyl)-3-(trifluoromethyl)pyrazole has been shown to be effective at inhibiting tumor cell proliferation in vitro and in vivo in animal models for phorbol ester-induced carcinomas, diabetic neuropathy, and colorectal carcinomas. This drug also inhibits the growth of Caco-2 cells and PGE2 levels.
