It yields polymers with high molecular weights and narrow molecular weight distribution. Radical polymerization using Propan-2-yl 3-oxocyclobutane-1-carboxylate as a monomer has been shown to produce polymers with high reactivity. The radical chain reaction is initiated by the decomposition of the initiator, which produces radicals that initiate new chains and grow them until termination occurs. The number of radicals that are generated per molecule of initiator depends on the type of initiator used.
