Description:

m-PEG5-Ms is a water soluble, amphiphilic polymer that can be used as a sensitizer for electron microscopy. It is synthesized by the condensation of methacrylic acid with ethylene glycol and tetramethylene glycol. The monomer units are linked together in a cyclic fashion to produce polymers with solubilizing properties. The m-PEG5-Ms polymer has a polar structure and micelles form when it is dissolved in water or other polar solvents. These micelles have the ability to encapsulate small particles such as proteins and lipids. m-PEG5-Ms is also soluble in nonpolar solvents such as hexane, benzene, and chloroform.
