GAL-021 is an orally active compound that is being developed for the treatment of inflammatory diseases. GAL-021 is a small molecule that binds to the α subunit of acetylcholine esterase, which blocks the activity of this enzyme and reduces inflammation. GAL-021 has been shown to be effective in clinical studies for reducing inflammation associated with autoimmune diseases and depression. The drug also increased the numbers of regulatory T cells in mice with experimental asthma. GAL-021 has been shown to be safe and well tolerated in humans at doses up to 200 mg per day, with no significant side effects or adverse events reported.
