Description:

H-Gly-Leu-Tyr-OH is a tripeptide that is found in some human and animal proteins. The peptide contains glycine, leucine, tyrosine, and hydroxyproline. It binds to copper ions with an inhibition constant of 1.5 x 10^5 M and has a pH optimum of 7.0. In the active form, it inhibits α subunit of bacterial aminopeptidase which is required for protein synthesis in bacteria. The peptide also has been shown to be a model system for the study of enzyme mechanisms and as a chromatographic method for analyzing proteins in food chemistry.
