It has been shown to inhibit the activity of proteinases such as chymotrypsin, trypsin, and elastase, which are enzymes that break down proteins. Glycylglycine is a fluorescent molecule that can be detected by fluorescence microscopy and has been used in the study of protein-protein interactions. Glycylglycine is an acidic amino acid with an amino acid composition that consists of about 20% glycine, 40% hydroxyphenylalanine, 30% serine and 10% threonine.
