2-O-beta-L-galactopyranosylorientin is a flavonoid that has been found in Vitex agnus castus. It is the major component of this plant's extract and it has been shown to have estrogenic properties. 2-O-beta-L-galactopyranosylorientin can be quantified by HPLC with on-line fluorescence detection using an acetonitrile gradient. The compound is monitored by UV spectroscopy as it elutes from the column, and its fragmentation mechanism is monitored by mass spectrometry.
