Glycerol-polyethylene glycol ether hexadecanoate octadecanoate (GPEG) is a mixture of two different compounds that are amphipathic and can ionotropic gel. It is used for the preparation of polycarboxylic acid-based drug delivery systems. GPEG has been studied for its toxicity in vivo and chemical stability in vitro, which showed no significant toxic effects at high doses. The bioavailability of GPEG was found to be low due to its water-soluble nature and rapid clearance from the bloodstream. It is also commonly known as a particle that can be used for cancer treatment, as it induces apoptosis by forming hydrogen bonds with fatty acids on the cell membrane surface.
