Glycerol-1,1,2,3,3-d5 is a chemical compound with the molecular formula C4H10O5. It is a colorless liquid that is soluble in water and exhibits low viscosity. Glycerol-1,1,2,3,3-d5 is used as a non-toxic solvent and as a standard for proton NMR spectroscopy. It has been shown to be an excellent model for the lipid composition of biological membranes in vivo. The major fatty acids found in glycerol-1,1,2,3,3-d5 are palmitic acid (C16:0), stearic acid (C18:0), oleic acid (C18:1), linoleic acid (C18:2), and eicosenoic acid (C20:1). This compound also contains 1% chloride by weight.
