Glycerol 5-hydroxydecanoate is a molecule that is structurally similar to uracil and bisnorbiotin. It has been used in the profiling of phytosphingosine and extracellular 5-hydroxy-l-tryptophan, which are metabolites of glycerol 3-phosphate. Glycerol 5-hydroxydecanoate can be metabolized by epoxygenase enzymes to form epoxy compounds, which are found in many natural products. The metabolic pathway for this molecule has been analyzed using pathway analysis software and oxime formation was observed. This product is soluble in organic solvents such as silicon or liquid chromatography.
