Description

Glycidoxypropyltriethoxysilane is a reactive amide used for the synthesis of silicones. It reacts with hydroxides such as sodium hydroxide to form siloxanes, which can be reacted further with alcohols to form ethers. Glycidoxypropyltriethoxysilane is also used as an immobilization agent for FT-IR spectroscopy and has been shown to adsorb nitrogen atoms from human serum. This material is insoluble in nonpolar solvents, but soluble in polar solvents like water. Glycidoxypropyltriethoxysilane is also used as a chromatographic stationary phase and has thermodynamic data available.
