Product Information
Z-Gly-Tyr-NH2 is a synthetic hydrophobic molecule that inhibits metalloproteases. It has been shown to inhibit the activity of subtilisins, which are proteases found in bacteria that are responsible for the breakdown of proteins during cell repair. This inhibition prevents the degradation of bacterial cell walls, leading to cell death. Z-Gly-Tyr-NH2 binds to lysine residues on the surface of protamines and has been shown to be effective against gram negative bacteria. The molecule also has a high specificity for lysine residues on the surface of gram negative bacteria, such as E. coli, Salmonella enterica, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa.br>
Z-Gly-Tyr-NH2 is not active against gram positive bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus or Streptococcus pyogenes due to their lack of lysine residues on their surfaces.
