Description:
2-(1H-1,2,4-Triazol-3-yl)acetic acid hydrochloride is the esters of 2-(1H-1,2,4-triazol-3-yl)acetate and hydrochloric acid. It is a white crystalline solid that melts at 212°C. 2-(1H-1,2,4-Triazol-3-yl)acetic acid hydrochloride reacts with methylene chloride to form 2-(methylthio)acetic acid. This compound has been used in condensation reactions and as a reagent for the conversion of carboxylic acids to methylene derivatives.
