Product Information

Name:
o-Desmethyl mebeverine alcohol
Controlled Product
Synonyms:
  • Desmethylmebeverine Alcohol
  • 4-{2-[ethyl(4-hydroxybutyl)amino]propyl}phenol
Description:

o-Desmethyl mebeverine alcohol is a prodrug that is hydrolyzed to mebeverine in vivo. It has been shown to have a linear pharmacokinetics and its elimination half-life is approximately 40 hours. o-Desmethyl mebeverine alcohol is not excreted unchanged in the urine, but undergoes glucuronidation. The glucuronide conjugates are excreted mainly through the biliary tract. This drug has been studied in vivo, with plasma samples collected from patients receiving a single oral dose of 500mg of o-desmethyl mebeverine alcohol. Pharmacokinetic parameters were determined for each patient and statistically analyzed for differences in pharmacokinetics between groups of patients, such as those with renal dysfunction or those taking drugs that may interfere with the metabolism of o-desmethyl mebeverine alcohol.
