Hexyl isocyanate (HIC) is a reactive chemical that can be found in a variety of products, such as adhesives and paint. HIC has been shown to cause lymphocyte transformation and chronic bronchitis in animal studies. It also causes metabolic disorders, including respiratory dysfunction and low energy levels, which may be due to its ability to bind with amines. HIC also has the potential to cause chronic pulmonary effects when exposed to radiation or magnetic resonance spectroscopy. The optimum concentration for HIC is between 0.01-0.1 ppm for fluorescence probe detection, which is below its threshold limit for toxicity in humans.
