Description:
HOPO is an additive used in amide coupling chemistry to suppress racemisation in alternative to the explosive HOBt. HOPO can be used in combination with EDCI in a 1:1 biphasic mixture containing water and dichloromethane or ethyl acetate. HOPO finds application also in the sequestration of Fe from human transferrin by chelation.
