Description

2-Hydroxy-3-nitropyridine is a molecule that contains a carbonyl group. It can be oxidized to 2-hydroxy-3-nitrosopyridine, which is a reactive intermediate. This compound has been shown to inhibit phosphatases and glycosidases, and it has been used as an inhibitor in enzymatic assays. 2HNP also reacts with amines in the presence of UV light, forming a reactive intermediate that can form covalent bonds with proteins.
