Description

2-Hydroxy-6-(trifluoromethyl)pyridine is a synthetic compound that can be used as a binding agent in immunosorbent assays. It has been shown to bind to the Fc region of antibodies, and thus it can be used to measure antibodies in immunoassays. 2-Hydroxy-6-(trifluoromethyl)pyridine binds to nucleophilic and autogenous groups, which are found on monoclonal antibodies and enzymes. This property makes it suitable for the development of a new type of enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). 2-Hydroxy-6-(trifluoromethyl)pyridine is also an inorganic base, which means that it reacts with organic solvents, such as chloroform. This property makes it suitable for use in pesticide formulations.
