Description:

(2R, 5S)-5-Hydroxypiperidine-2-carboxylic acid is a flavonoid with anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. This compound has been shown to inhibit the production of serotonin in human platelets and also inhibits the activity of bacterial enoyl reductases. (2R, 5S)-5-Hydroxypiperidine-2-carboxylic acid has been found to be an effective antibacterial agent against Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Bacillus subtilis, and Staphylococcus epidermidis. The ester ethyl esters of (2R, 5S)-5-hydroxypiperidine-2-carboxylic acid have also been found to inhibit peroxide production by cells. In addition, this compound has been shown to interact with crystal x-ray diffraction data from proteins and crystalline compounds. This is a chiral compound
