1,1,1,2,3,3-Hexafluoro-2,3-dichloropropane is a chemical compound with the formula CFClF. It is a colorless liquid that boils at −39°C. 1,1,1,2,3,3-Hexafluoro-2,3-dichloropropane is a reactive gas that can be oxidized to elemental fluorine and chlorine gas. It is used as an industrial refrigerant and as an inhibitor of corrosion in acrylonitrile production. In addition to inhibiting corrosion in acrylonitrile production, 1,1,1,2,3,3-hexafluoro-2,3-dichloropropane also acts as a surface active agent and metal halide scavenger in metal finishing operations. This chemical has been used during the Covid 19 pandemic to kill airborne influenza viruses.
