2-(4-Hydroxybenzyl)-N,5-bis-(4-fluorophenyl)-5-hydroxypentanamide is a synthetic compound with a protonated nitrogen atom in its structure. It was synthesized from 4-hydroxybenzyl alcohol and 5-(4-fluorophenyl)-5-hydroxypentanoic acid. The chemical shift for the protons on the benzene ring is 8.0 ppm, while the signal for the protons on the ester group is at 3.3 ppm. This compound has been used as an impurity in ezetimibe production, which is a drug that lowers cholesterol levels by inhibiting intestinal absorption of cholesterol and bile acids. LC-MS analyses have shown that it can be found in trace amounts in ezetimibe synthesis.
