Description

Hexaethylene glycol monophenyl ether (HEMPO) is a solvent that is used to dissolve or suspend other substances. It is a colorless liquid with a mild odor and an oily feel. HEMPO has good solvency properties for many types of materials, including fatty acids and alkanolamines. It can be used as a coating for metal surfaces, as well as in photopolymerizable coatings. In addition, HEMPO has been shown to be an inhibitor of corrosion in the presence of strong bases such as sodium hydroxide or potassium hydroxide.
HEMPO does not react with most alcohols, but does react with reactive alcohols such as tetrahydrofurfuryl alcohol.
