2-Hydrazino-1H-benzimidazole is a coordination complex that has been used as an oxidation catalyst in organic synthesis. It can be synthesized by the reaction of a diazonium salt with malonic acid and hydrochloric acid. 2-Hydrazino-1H-benzimidazole also reacts with metal surfaces to form a nitro compound, which can then be reduced by hydrochloric acid or nitric acid to form the corresponding amine. This coordination complex has shown physiological activities such as inhibition of blood platelet aggregation and stimulation of erythrocyte production. The molecule's chemical structure was determined using NMR spectroscopy.
