5-Hydroxy-3-methyl-1-phenyl-1H-pyrazole-4-carbaldehyde is a carboxylate functional molecule with nitrogen atoms. It has been shown to be a ligand for lanthanide metals, such as La and Gd. 5-Hydroxy-3-methyl-1-phenyl-1H-pyrazole-4-carbaldehyde has been used in the synthesis of acylhydrazones and imine nitrogens. This molecule is soluble in nonpolar solvents, but not polar solvents such as water or ethanol. The crystal x ray diffraction pattern shows that this compound has a polyhedral shape with low efficiency.
