N-Heptylheptan-1-amine is an amine that is used as a cross-linking agent. It has a reactive carbonyl group and inhibits the formation of polycarboxylic acids, which are formed by the hydrolysis of polycarboxylic acids. This chemical has been shown to be effective in the production of aliphatic hydrocarbons, such as lubricating oil. N-Heptylheptan-1-amine is also used to manufacture ethylene diamine, which is used in the production of amines.
