Description

6-Hydrazino-1,3-dimethylpyrimidine-2,4(1H,3H)-dione is a nitromethyl derivative that has analgesic activity. It is synthesized by the reaction of aniline with diazoacetate and hydrazine in the presence of triethylamine. The reaction yields 6-hydrazino-1,3-dimethylpyrimidine-2,4(1H,3H)-dione as a white solid product. 6-Hydrazino-1,3-dimethylpyrimidine-2,4(1H,3H)-dione is hydrolyzed to yield 6-(hydroxymethyl)nitromethyleneimine and hydrochloric acid.
