Description

2-Hydroxy-N-methylbenzamide is a carbonyl compound that is an amide. It has been shown to have strong photodecomposition properties, which may be due to the presence of a carbonyl group in its structure. 2-Hydroxy-N-methylbenzamide has also been shown to react with proton acceptors such as chlorine atom and organic solvents, and it is soluble in water. 2-Hydroxy-N-methylbenzamide has been used in medicines as an antibacterial agent for the treatment of rat liver microsomes. It has been shown to bind to hydrogen bonds between pyochelin and piperidone, which are two antibiotics that inhibit bacterial growth by binding to ribosomal subunits.
