Description:

9-Hydroxy-9H-fluorene-9-carboxylic acid is a plant growth regulator that is used as an agrochemical. It inhibits the synthesis of auxin, which is a plant hormone that promotes cell elongation and root formation. 9HFCA binds to the enzyme protein involved in the synthesis of auxin, preventing this process from occurring. This agent has been shown to increase both the frequency shift and response pathway in plants grown in microgravity conditions. The affinity constants for 9HFCA are not known. 9HFCA can be prepared by mixing trifluoroacetic acid with a sample, which is then heated to 60°C for 30 minutes.
