Description:

2-Hydrazino-5-methyl-1,3,4-thiadiazole hydrochloride (HMTD) is a polymerization catalyst that is used to produce polymers. It is an organoaluminum compound that belongs to the transition metal compounds and catalyzes the polymerization of ethylene and propylene. HMTD has shown high activity in the production of polyethylene with a molecular weight between 5000 and 10,000 g/mol. HMTD also has been used as a catalyst for boron compounds in the preparation of polymers such as polyethers and polycarbonates. This compound can be synthesized from phosphorus, sulfur, or organoboron compounds.
