2-Hydrazinylpyridine dihydrochloride is a protonated ligand that is used in the production of radiopharmaceuticals for diagnostic imaging. It forms a chelate ring with technetium and other metal ions, and can be used as a coligand to bind to receptors on cells. 2-Hydrazinylpyridine dihydrochloride has been shown to interact with molybdate, phosphine, and acetonitrile. The binding affinity of 2-hydrazinylpyridine dihydrochloride depends on the pH of the solution: it binds more weakly in acidic solutions (3) but more strongly in alkaline solutions (>10).
