Product Information
7-Hydroxychroman-4-one is a chalcone flavonoid that has been studied in cancer research. It has been shown to inhibit the proliferation of tumor cells and inhibits tumor cell growth in vitro, by inhibiting the activity of DNA topoisomerase II and DNA gyrase. 7-Hydroxychroman-4-one also inhibits the production of cancer molecules such as brazilin, chromanone, and etoposide, which are all derived from the metabolism of 7-hydroxychroman-4-one. The compound is converted to these cancer molecules through the activity of enzymes such as carbonyl reductase and methoxy groups. These enzymes are found in high concentrations in tumor cells. This compound also contains a propiophenone group, which is associated with antihistamine drugs for treating allergies. Due to its structural similarity to propiophenone, this compound may have similar antihistamine effects.
