Product Information
- Cyclobutanecarboxylic Acid, 3-Hydroxy-
- 3-Hydroxy-cyclobutanecarboxylic acid
3-Hydroxycyclobutanecarboxylic acid (3HB) is a non-natural amino acid that has been synthesized by the radiosynthesis method. It is used for tumor imaging and positron emission tomography (PET). 3HB has been shown to be a high-affinity ligand for benzodiazepine receptors, with a K value of 0.8 nM. This property may be useful in the development of new drugs with high stereoselectivity, which are not available with other synthetic methods. The synthesis of 3-hydroxycyclobutanecarboxylic acid can be performed on a large scale. It can also be labeled with carbon-11 or fluorine-18 and used in PET scans to identify tumors.
