Product Information
4-Hydroxybenzohydroxamicacid is a naturally occurring organic compound belonging to the class of hydroxamic acids. It is a titrated anion that can be prepared by the reaction of salicylhydroxamic acid with sodium hydroxide in water. The functional theory and thermodynamics of this reaction are discussed in detail. The formation constants, K, for the ionization reaction are also given. 4-Hydroxybenzohydroxamicacid has been shown to react with aspirin to form a hydrogen bond between the carboxylic acid group and the amino group on the benzene ring. This reaction is known as transfer mechanism. 4-Hydroxybenzohydroxamicacid has been found to reduce the level of histone H3 proteins and DNA replication in cells treated with metal ions such as copper and zinc, which may be due to its ability to form intramolecular hydrogen bonds with these ions.
