It is a good candidate for optical and electrochemical polymerization. 4'-(Hexyloxy)-4-biphenylcarbonitrile has been shown to form a helical structure in polymer films and zinc oxide nanoparticles. The optical properties of this compound are dependent on its spatial morphology.
