Description

3-Hydroxynaphthalene-2,7-disulphonic acid (3HND) is a sulfonation agent that forms a chelate ring with metal ions. 3HND is used as a chemical reagent in the production of sodium salts and as an industrial dye. It is also used to improve the fluorescence properties of amines. 3HND has been shown to have antiviral properties against influenza virus by binding to the viral haemagglutinin and preventing the virus from attaching to cells.
