3-(2-Hydroxy-2-propyl)phenol is a phenolic compound that is used in the synthesis of perfumes, pharmaceuticals, and herbicides. 3-(2-Hydroxy-2-propyl)phenol has been shown to be a good electron donor for fluorescence. It also has a low efficiency for hydrogen peroxide production. The molecule is able to form hydrogen bonds with other molecules, and as such can act as an acid catalyst. 3-(2-Hydroxy-2-propyl)phenol is luminescent and emits light when excited by radiation. The electronic spectra of 3-(2-hydroxy-2-propyl)phenol show singlet transitions at 337 nm and 714 nm.
