Product Information

Name:
Hexadecanoic acid 2-nitrophenylester
Synonyms:
  • 2-Nitrophenyl Hexadecanoate
Description:

Hexadecanoic acid 2-nitrophenylester is a cationic surfactant that has been shown to be active against methicillin-susceptible Staphylococcus aureus and lactococcus. Hexadecanoic acid 2-nitrophenylester also interacts with lipase, which may lead to hydrolysis of the substrate. The reaction rate is dependent on the concentration of hexadecanoic acid 2-nitrophenylester, as well as the concentration of lipase. In addition, this compound is competitively inhibitory against short-chain fatty acids. This compound has been shown to inhibit the growth of microflora in an emulsion system.
