4-Hydroxy-nicotinic acid methylester is a compound that has equilibrium between its two tautomers, the lactam and the enol. The equilibrium constant can be determined by measuring the absorbance of ultraviolet light at 205 nm, which will be higher for the lactam than for the enol. The equilibrium also depends on the concentration of methanol in n-hexane as well as on temperature. The chemical formula for 4-hydroxy-nicotinic acid methylester is C8H11NO2.
