Product Information

Name:
4-Hydrazinylbenzonitrile
Description:

4-Hydrazinylbenzonitrile is a chemical compound that has been found to inhibit the activity of Cox-2, an enzyme that is involved in the production of prostaglandins. This inhibition is due to the formation of an acid complex with 4-hydrazinylbenzonitrile and hydrochloric acid. The unsymmetrical nature of this molecule allows it to bind to the active site of Cox-2, which prevents coxibs from binding and therefore inhibits their activity. 4-Hydrazinylbenzonitrile has been shown to inhibit COX-2 at physiological levels, which may be due to its ability to form an acid complex with hydrochloric acid.
